Comment on Value Propositions

Characteristics of Strong Value Propositions
• You must differentiate your offer from your competitors’ offers.
• You may match a competitor on every dimension of value except one.
• You need to excel in at least one element of value.
• In this way you become the best choice for your optimum customer.
• There is a difference between the value proposition for your company and your product. You must address both.
Crafting a value proposition requires substantial reflection on what is unique about your company and your products and services.
Challenge: If you had just 10 words to describe why people should buy from your company instead of another’s, what would you communicate

Identifying this core issue is the key to crafting any Marketing Strategy!

reBlog from socialmediatoday.com:

I found this fascinating quote today:

“….. One leading argument has been that some Twitter applications on mobile devices load pages within the application, rather than using an external browser, and so aren’t getting registered by Google Analytics. Also, some mobile browsers might not process JavaScript. I could see at least four iPhone-based requests like this. But there were plenty of other requests that appear to be from full-fledged desktop-based browsers. Why weren’t they showing up?

One clue is that of the 34 requests, only 5 of them contained “referrer” data, information that some browsers pass on that indicate how they found the page in the first place. For Google Analytics (or ANY analytics program) to properly indicate how much traffic a particular site is driving, it needs as much referrer data as it can get.”

Offline/Online

Online Marketing efforts coupled with a creative offline strategy is a fact more companies are buying into these days. Many small business owners have discovered the benefits of displaying their URLs in print Yellow Pages.
The data demonstrates that digital and traditional media complement each other and echoes the mix of platforms consumers use when researching purchasing decisions.

SWOT it

I think every analyst out there should have a poster like this hanging right in front of their face (o.k. I just pinned mine 2 min's ago!). Unless every thought on that grid is not worked out, no amount of information on what happens to a business is ever worth it.

Simple equation= Fantastic results

Just in case my image is unreadable,

Internal Origin/ are attributes of the organization
External Origin/ are attributes of the enviorment
Helpful/Harmful to achieving the Objective

Prognatus Iterum : Born Again

Try saying that thrice! After listening to a clients concern over a meeting today..I took a marker and scribbled 'prognatus iterum', of course amusing them with my obscure Latin knowledge and driving home the only point of the presentation. Companies of all size find themselves (and their core brand identity) being constantly on the move, either to evolve or completely re-tool everything. Reshaping a strategy by a simple idea "why us?"
The next day I printed out small cards with that question and handed them out to every employee in the company. Even their two interns and the Accountant wasn't left out of the exercise. At the next round table meeting, an intense brainstorming session with all the employees, lead to quite a few interesting observations.
Its interesting that along with all the website metrics I had collected that human insights varying from usability to productivity, gave us an invaluable clue as to how the Rebirth must begin.

SMO: Where's the Beef?

So the Buzz is all Social Media Marketing and we even have a buzzword for it SMO (Social Media Optimization). The one problem I currently face, and I'm sure many of you have encountered at various times, is explaining and convincing the client the 'New World Order' in marketing strategy. We have never been at any point, in all our human existence this connected to each other..and that to around the world. The context and metrics are still being sorted and evaluated, to merge different ideas and paths along the way. As we go along, I will try to bring examples on this blog to show successful SMO strategies.
